Advantages of Songshan Airport Transfers: Why Choose Songshan?
Songshan Airport is located in Taipei's Songshan District, just 5–10 km from the city center — Taiwan's closest international airport to downtown. Compared to Taoyuan International Airport, Songshan's biggest advantage is proximity: about 15 minutes from Xinyi District, 20 minutes from Daan District, and even from farther areas like Keelung or parts of New Taipei, travel time is significantly shorter than to Taoyuan.
For business travelers, Songshan Airport's convenience is unbeatable. Many executives departing from Neihu Tech Park or Nangang Software Park can reach the airport in just 20–30 minutes, with time to finish that last email before boarding. For families traveling with children and lots of luggage, shorter rides mean less hassle and lower risk of motion sickness.
Songshan Airport primarily serves domestic routes (Kinmen, Penghu, Matsu, Hualien, Taitung) and select short-haul international routes to East Asia (Tokyo Haneda, Shanghai Pudong, Seoul Gimpo, etc.). If your destination happens to be one of these, choosing Songshan saves transfer time and gets you to the city faster after landing. PriorityTrip offers 24/7 Songshan Airport transfer service with the same booking process as Taoyuan Airport.
Songshan Airport Transfer Costs and Travel Times by Area
PriorityTrip uses the same "base fare + distance adjustment" pricing for Songshan Airport transfers as for Taoyuan. Since distances are shorter, overall costs are noticeably lower. Here are reference travel times and fare ranges from major northern Taiwan areas to Songshan Airport.
Xinyi District to Songshan Airport: ~6 km, 15–20 min, approximately NT$400–600. Daan District: ~8 km, 20–25 min, approximately NT$500–700. Zhongshan District: ~5 km, 12–18 min, approximately NT$350–550. Neihu District: ~10 km, 20–30 min, approximately NT$600–800.
Banqiao District, New Taipei: ~15 km, 25–35 min, approximately NT$700–900. Zhonghe District: ~18 km, 30–40 min. Keelung City: ~25 km, 35–45 min, approximately NT$1,000–1,300. Hsinchu City: ~70 km, 60–75 min, approximately NT$1,800–2,200.
All fares above are reference ranges for business-class large vehicles (Toyota Alphard / Vellfire). Actual quotes may vary slightly based on date, time, and vehicle type. Our quote system shows the exact price when you fill out the booking form — no hidden fees. Late-night hours (22:00–06:00) may incur a night surcharge, clearly indicated at booking.
Songshan vs Taoyuan Airport: How to Choose?
Choosing between Songshan and Taoyuan depends on your destination, flight schedule, and personal preference. Songshan's advantages are proximity, shorter rides, and lower transfer costs; the downside is fewer flight options, mostly concentrated on East Asia short-haul and domestic routes. Taoyuan is Taiwan's international hub with global coverage, but it's farther and rides take longer.
If you're flying to Tokyo Haneda, Shanghai Pudong, Seoul Gimpo, Xiamen, or Fuzhou, Songshan is almost certainly more convenient. For example, Songshan flights to Tokyo mostly depart in the morning and return in the evening — ideal timing for business day trips. While Taoyuan also has flights to Tokyo Narita, Narita is much farther from downtown Tokyo than Haneda, making overall travel time longer.
For domestic travelers, Songshan is practically the only sensible choice. All flights to Kinmen, Penghu, Hualien, and Taitung depart from Songshan, and transfer time from Taipei to Songshan is typically 30–60 minutes shorter than to Taoyuan — especially important for early morning departures. PriorityTrip recommends confirming your departure airport when booking flights, then choosing the most suitable transfer plan accordingly.
Songshan Airport Pick-up and Drop-off Tips
Songshan Airport is much smaller than Taoyuan, making the transfer process simpler and more direct. For drop-offs, your driver takes you directly to the first-floor departure hall entrance, helps with luggage, and you can proceed straight to the check-in counters. The entire exit process usually takes just 2–3 minutes.
For pick-ups, the arrival hall is on the first floor with a compact layout and clearly defined meeting points. PriorityTrip's confirmation text clearly states the meeting location, typically "outside the first-floor arrival hall parking area" or "next to the taxi stand." If you select our "signboard pick-up" service, the driver holds a sign with your name in the arrival hall for easy recognition.
Songshan Airport's parking lot is right in front of the terminal, with quick vehicle access — no navigating large parking structures like at Taoyuan. This is a hidden advantage for arriving passengers: from the arrival hall to your vehicle typically takes only 3–5 minutes. For travelers with children or mobility limitations, this short walk significantly reduces fatigue.
