Holiday Airport Transfer Booking Guide | CNY, Mid-Autumn, National Day Tips
Why Are Holiday Airport Transfers So Hard to Book?
Taiwan's long holidays (Chinese New Year, Qingming, Dragon Boat, Mid-Autumn, National Day) are the periods with the most concentrated airport transfer demand. For example, during CNY, the combination of homecoming and outbound travel crowds means transfer bookings are typically 3–5 times higher than usual. If you wait until a week before the holiday to book, you'll likely find the fleet fully booked.
PriorityTrip's dispatch center begins planning fleet staffing and shift schedules two months before long holidays to ensure sufficient drivers and vehicles for peak demand. Even so, popular periods (such as the day before Chinese New Year's Eve, or Mid-Autumn Day itself) tend to get fully booked quickly after opening.
Our advice is simple: book holiday airport transfers at least 2–4 weeks in advance. The earlier you book, the more you can choose your ideal departure time and vehicle type, and prices are more stable (last-minute bookings before holidays may see price adjustments due to supply and demand).
Peak Periods and Recommended Departure Times for Each Holiday
Chinese New Year (before and after Lunar New Year): The hottest period is the three days before Chinese New Year's Eve through the fifth day of the new year. During this time, National Highway No. 1 and No. 3 are congested almost all day — we recommend multiplying normal travel time by 1.5–2x. For example, a normal 40-minute trip may take 60–80 minutes during CNY. Depart especially early for drop-offs.
Mid-Autumn Festival (around the 15th day of the 8th lunar month): The Mid-Autumn long holiday is typically only 3–4 days, with the most short-haul outbound travelers (Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia). These flights concentrate in the morning and evening — we recommend avoiding these two peak periods when booking, or locking in your time at least 3 weeks in advance.
National Day Holiday (around October 10): The National Day holiday is the golden period for autumn travel, with many families planning longer trips. The characteristic of this period is that "before 9am and after 8pm" have noticeably less traffic — if your flight time allows, choosing these departure windows can significantly shorten travel time.
Money-Saving and Stress-Saving Holiday Booking Tips
Tip 1: Choose "flexible time slots." If your flight time allows, booking for "before 6am" or "after 9pm" typically avoids highway congestion, with shorter travel times, lower fuel costs, and potential discounted pricing during certain periods.
Tip 2: Group booking. If multiple family members or friends are traveling together, booking multiple vehicles as a group can enjoy group discounts. PriorityTrip's business-class large vehicles seat 7 passengers — two small families sharing one vehicle can split costs per person that may be cheaper than HSR transfer.
Tip 3: Set a backup plan. Flight changes are more likely during holidays, so we recommend informing customer service of "the latest acceptable departure time if the flight is delayed" when booking. This way, even if the flight is rescheduled, we can adjust immediately without needing to reschedule from scratch.
PriorityTrip Special Holiday Services
During holidays, PriorityTrip activates its "Peak Contingency Mechanism": dispatch center on 24-hour rotation monitoring road conditions, every vehicle equipped with real-time traffic navigation, and drivers arriving 30 minutes early (rather than the usual 10 minutes) at the departure location.
If encountering severe highway congestion, drivers proactively contact you to explain the situation and estimated delay, then assist with luggage as quickly as possible upon arrival to make up for lost road time. Our goal is to ensure you reach the airport on time and calmly, even amid holiday traffic.
Final reminder: For holiday cancellations, please try to inform us at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations within 24 hours before the holiday may incur partial fees because the vehicle has already been assigned and cannot be reassigned to another customer. Early planning and on-time departure are the best guarantees for smooth holiday travel.
